About Us
What We DO
The Peterborough Pickleball Association is a non-profit organization with over 600 members. Our mission is to provide opportunities for people of all ages, skill levels, abilities and backgrounds to participate in pickleball. We promote physical fitness and social engagement, good sportsmanship and fun through organized recreational and competitive play and encourage future generations of players.
This past year, we fundraised for the new Bonnerworth Pickleball Courts. Here’s why this matters: We contributed $75,000 to the City of Peterborough for our share in building the Bonnerworth Courts. To ensure the courts were properly fenced, something essential for their long-term success, we committed an additional $40,000 which we raised from our membership!
The courts opened in November, on time and on budget. They are beautiful and we will be proud to play on them this upcoming 2026 season.
We achieve our goals through organizing tournaments, leagues, clinics, mentorship and community outreach programs. We rely on local businesses, our community and our membership base for support. Thank you for being a member.

Leaving the board of the PPA for the upcoming term are Bill O’Byrne, Mattie Geldenhuys, Meredith Piley, and President Shelley Moloney. We thank each of these directors for their service to the board.
Wendy Archibald
Wendy brings five years of experience as a dedicated pickleball athlete, both as a competitive player and a recreational participant. She has also been actively involved in a variety of community sports organizations, including serving on the executive of her Slo-Pitch league, where she developed strong skills in communication and collaboration between players and management.
Wendy is passionate about creating more inclusive opportunities for non-competitive players. She hopes to help develop programming that supports this important group and creates an enjoyable, welcoming environment focused on connection, activity, and fun.
Ruby Byrne
Ruby is a Peterborough resident, an articling student at LLF Lawyers, and a candidate for the Ontario Bar. She brings leadership and management skills developed through her experience as President of her local baseball club. She is passionate about pickleball and hopes to help create a welcoming, positive experience for anyone interested in trying the sport.
She sees an opportunity to engage the talented youth already playing in our city and to encourage their involvement in growing the sport and inspiring more young people to take it up.
Mitchell Collins
Mitch is a Peterborough resident and a paramedic. He brings valuable event management experience and strong technical expertise. He is a Level 1 pickleball coach and a co-founder of Pickle League, and he is highly engaged in the pickleball community with a strong understanding of the local player base.
Mitch is eager to use his skills to help build sponsorship opportunities with local businesses and community partners, while also enhancing the organization’s online presence and digital communications.
Cathy Kayser
Cathy is a Peterborough resident who is actively involved in the real estate industry. She is also an enthusiastic pickleball player with a strong commitment to community service. Her volunteer experience includes Meals on Wheels, hospice initiatives, and local organizations such as the Peterborough Golf Club and Keystone Golf Club.
Through both her professional and volunteer work, Cathy brings valuable community connections, teamwork, and a strong spirit of service.
Shelley Moloney – Former President
Shelley is a former teacher with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. As President, she chaired meetings and organized and oversaw league play and tournaments. She is also the liaison between the City of Peterborough and the 14-court redevelopment slated to proceed at Bonnerworth Recreation Hub. She is committed to working toward an indoor pickleball facility in Peterborough with multiple courts for the PPA’s growing membership.
Danielle French – President
Danielle is the founder of South Pond Farms, a culinary and event-based business in the Kawarthas. She has experience on other community boards, including as Marketing Director for the Kawartha Lakes Arts Council, Fundraising Director for a Toronto chamber music ensemble, and a board member of RT08. She has also participated in entrepreneurship mentorship programs. She is dedicated to growing the PPA and working toward an indoor facility in Peterborough.
Nancy Sharpe – Vice President
Nancy is a Canadian athlete, National Squash Champion, and Ironman competitor. She has been Director of Communications at The Mount Community Centre for 10 years and has been a member of the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame for 20 years. Her board experience includes:
- Canadian Association of Communicators in Education (Board Member, 7 years)
- Canadian Association of Volunteer Bureaus and Centres (Lifelong Member and Board Member, 5 years)
- United Way of Peterborough and District (Board Member, 2 years)
- Ontario Squash Association (Board Member and Regional Director, 6 years)
Tom Taylor – Treasurer
Tom is a retired CPA and a past treasurer for several not-for-profit organizations, including the PRHC Foundation Board and Hospice Peterborough. He is also a past President of the Kiwanis Club of Peterborough and has served as a Director and Treasurer of the Peterborough Golf & Country Club. Tom’s vision is to see pickleball grow in the city and become a more inclusive sport through greater awareness in the school system.

Rayce Manger
Rayce has experience organizing tournaments, including previous PPA events and as a member of the True North Pickleball Tour team. He is an active member of pickleball communities in Ontario and is knowledgeable about play structures, skill ratings, and, to an extent, training and coaching. Rayce is keen to grow the sport and foster a positive, inclusive spirit.
Sean Peters
Sean is a self-employed contractor who has been playing pickleball since 2022. He loves the game, has a lot of fun playing it, and has met some great people through his travels. He is proud to be a Peterborough Pickleball Association member and to serve our community as a board member.
