Subject: Local Pickleball Athletes Battled in the Bubble Over the Weekend – (Results)

Date of Event: Friday, October 25 – Saturday, 26, 2024

Location: Kingston Racquet Club, Kingston, Ontario

Two hundred Pickleball players fought for honours over the weekend at Kingston’s Battle in the Bubble pickleball tournament. Eastern Ontario’s newest and largest indoor pickleball club offered 12 indoor pickleball courts to showcase top local and out-of-town pickleball athletes.
Categories included Men’s and Women’s Singles 3.5 and under, 3.5+, with age categories 49 and under, and 50+, Mixed Doubles 2.5/3.0/3.5/4.0+, with age categories 49 and under, and 50+, Men’s and Women’s Doubles 2.5/3.0/3.5/4.0+, with age categories 49 and under, and 50+. Categories played in pool round robins, with the top teams in each pool advancing to a playoff round to determine medal winners.
Results for Peterborough Athletes were as follows:
Men’s Doubles Skill: 3.5 (Age 50 Years and Above)
• Silver Medal Winners – Joe Slezak and Don Jackson
Mixed Doubles Skill: 3.5 (Age 50 and Above)
• Silver Medal Winners – Toni Rutland and George Ostermeier (Pembrooke)
Men’s Doubles Skill: 3.0 (Age 50 Years and Above)
• Terry Grosjean and Kevin Steadman (Elgin, ON)
Women’s Doubles Skill: 2.5 (Age 19 and Above)
• Silver Medal Winners – Susan Bridgeman and Rana Leggette (Glenburrie)
• Bronze Medal Winners – Poppy Gillingham and Sandy Black
