From the Sports Desk: Kawartha Open – results

Over 200 Pickleball players took part in the last outdoor tournament for this season in the City of Peterborough. The Kawartha Open Pickleball Tournament showcased both local and out-of-town pickleball athletes coming as far away as Hawaii and Florida.

The Kawartha Open Tournament, part of the Selkirk True North Pickleball Tour, was the first qualifying event for the 2025 Tour Championships. The tournament was a skill/age event with Men’s and Women’s Doubles held on Saturday, September 28th and mixed doubles on Sunday, August 29th. Events were played as round robin/pools feeding into a single elimination medal round with bronze and gold medal games.

“This was the 4th annual Kawartha Open Pickleball Tournament held in Peterborough and in my opinion, the most successful to date,” says Ryan Hanes, CEO, True North Pickleball Inc.  “We always love coming to Peterborough as it is a vibrant and growing Pickleball community. The event was well attended by both local and out of town athletes providing opportunities for participants to meet new players and enjoy some friendly competition.”

“The Peterborough Pickleball Association wants to thank Ryan Hanes and his staff for choosing Peterborough for this prestigious tournament,” says Shelley Moloney, President, Peterborough Pickleball Association. “In addition, we would like to acknowledge his company for making a generous donation to The Mount Community Centre for once again providing their property to accommodate overflow parking for the event.”
